Tennis

Tennis is a racquet sport that can be played individually against a single opponent (singles) or between two teams of two players each (doubles). The objective of the game is to hit a lightweight ball over a net into the opponent’s court in such a way that the opponent is unable to return it successfully. The court is rectangular and divided by a net, with specific markings for different types of play. Players use a tennis racquet to strike the ball, which is typically made of rubber and covered with felt.

The game is played in sets, with players earning points through a system that includes love, fifteen, thirty, forty, and game. Winning a match requires players to win a predetermined number of sets. Tennis is governed by a set of rules known as the “Rules of Tennis,” maintained by the International Tennis Federation (ITF).

Tennis is popular worldwide, recognized for its competitive nature and athleticism, and has both recreational and professional levels. Major tournaments, such as the Grand Slam events (Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open), are celebrated highlights in the sport’s calendar, attracting significant global attention.
