Baseball

Baseball is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams, each consisting of nine players. The objective is to score runs by hitting a baseball with a bat and running around a series of bases arranged in a diamond shape. The game typically consists of nine innings, during which one team bats while the other plays defense. Each team has a turn to bat and a turn to field in each inning. The team with the most runs at the end of the game wins.

The game is played on a field, which includes an infield with four bases—first base, second base, third base, and home plate—and an outfield. A key component of baseball is the pitcher, who throws the ball toward the batter of the opposing team, aiming to get them out by striking them out, making them hit into a defensive play, or catching a fly ball.

Baseball is known for its strategic elements, including pitching strategies, batting techniques, and defensive formations. It has a rich history, especially in the United States, referred to as America’s pastime, and is governed by regulations set by various professional leagues, including Major League Baseball (MLB). The sport emphasizes skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
