Cricket

Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each. The game is played on a circular or oval-shaped field, with a rectangular 22-yard-long pitch at its center. Each team takes turns batting and fielding. The batting team aims to score runs by hitting a ball bowled at them and running between two sets of wickets located at either end of the pitch, while the fielding team tries to prevent runs by getting batsmen out in various ways, such as catching a batted ball before it touches the ground, hitting the wickets with the ball, or trapping the batsman in front of the wicket (leg before wicket).

Cricket matches can vary in format, including Test matches, which last up to five days, and limited-overs matches, which consist of a set number of overs (usually 50 or 20). The game is governed by a specific set of rules known as the Laws of Cricket. It is especially popular in countries like England, India, Australia, and several others, where it is not only a competitive sport but often a significant part of the culture and social fabric.
