Baseball

Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams, typically consisting of nine players each. The game is played on a diamond-shaped field, with four bases arranged in a square. The primary objective of baseball is to score runs by hitting a ball thrown by the pitcher and then running around the bases to reach home plate.

The game is divided into two halves: the top half, where the visiting team bats, and the bottom half, where the home team bats. The team in the field aims to get batters out by striking them out, catching batted balls in the air, or tagging runners with the ball.

The sport has a rich history and is known for its strategic elements, including pitching, hitting, fielding, and base running. Baseball is often referred to as “America’s pastime,” reflecting its deep cultural significance and popularity in the United States, although it is played and followed worldwide. The game has various professional leagues, most notably Major League Baseball (MLB) in the U.S., as well as amateur and minor league levels. The combination of teamwork, individual skill, and strategy makes baseball a unique and widely enjoyed sport.
